So What Exactly IS a ‘Simple Sparkle’?

When I was telling one of my friends about this blog that I was going to start, her first question was “what is a simple sparkle?.” Valid question!

When I was naming my blog and thinking about what I wanted to write about, I knew I wanted to keep it simple (remember my over-thinking that stopped at least 5 different blog concepts in their tracks) and I knew I wanted the opportunity to grow and nurture the content to reflect not only the things I want to say, but also the things that my readers want to hear about.

So I thought about topic ideas and posts I wanted to write and when I was thinking about these things, I remembered a mug that I own that reads “Don’t Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle (Some of us were just born with glitter in our veins!).” It’s a mug that I purchased for myself and my entire team as I was leaving my last job – a job and a team that I truly loved.

The phrase spoke to me because I felt like when that team – not just colleagues, but friends – got together, we truly sparkled. Tasks, whether small or monumental, became things that we tackled together and with smiles. Challenges or issues weren’t brick walls but rather speed bumps that we worked over. Life changes were celebrated together and life’s challenges were commiserated and worked through together. Every moment was a simple sparkle – some were brighter and more glittery than others – but we made the best of it.

I want to talk about different things on this blog – from games to beauty to travel to marriage to friends to (maybe someday) motherhood – but I hope that each post and each entry can be a simple sparkle. Something that brings a little bit of happiness to your day, because I also hope that writing each one brings a bit of happiness to mine.
